In which we head to Las Vegas

It's spring break and we are going to Las Vegas! Our person and her husband do not gamble, but are trying to see every Cirque du Soliel show and will see a new one. However, the most important decision has been which of us Hittys gets to go along. I am the usual traveler around here, but we had to discuss this just to be fair. Hitty Maria is the smart one and said she can count cards, but our person did not think that was a good idea. Hitty Isabella is busy decorating her Spanish Mansion (now known as Casa Bonita) and Hitty Benita is anxious to get started gardening. So I will be the one to travel again!

Since I am the adventurous type I will insist we get some exercise and wander around the desert while the teenage humans "hang" at the pool (as they say.) We will have photos to share when we return next week.

Plastic Spanish Mansion (from our person)

Hitty Isabella was in my purse when I stopped by the local flea market the other day. I enjoy wandering through this crazy place and it is usually quite empty on weekdays, but this time it was packed with people everywhere. Must be the economy.

I stopped in one of my favorite booths and heard a tiny voice shouting "¡Mira! ¡Mira!" ("Look! Look!") The sound was coming from my purse.

"Hush!" I whispered while looking around nervously, hoping no one could hear me. "Pero..." ("But...") said the little voice before I could clamp my hand over her tiny mouth.

And then I saw it! A Spanish mansion. OK, a plastic Spanish mansion, but NOT pink and really quite nice and in perfect condition. It had a beautiful plastic tile roof, and a balcony complete with plastic wrought iron railing. I am a sucker for all types of doll houses and had to admit this could be useful. As I started to remove my hand I heard the mumble "...casa bonita..." (beautiful house) and realized we were going to bring this large but interesting find home.

So here we are with our newest Hitty house, which will be called, appropriately, "Casa Bonita." It comes complete with Hitty Isabella on the balcony. Just kidding, but that is where she spends all of her time now. I swear she looks like she is about to burst into song with "Don't Cry For Me Argentina."

We get a doll house!

Hitty Isabella is our resident seamstress and crafts person and she has done it again! She made a dollhouse for Bitty Belle and everyone is thrilled with the bright colors (of course!) and the teeny, tiny furnishings. Bitty Belle just keeps redecorating it over and over again. Our person's father-in-law gave us the mini furniture, and in fact we still have a box full of things to play with. The house is made of strong cardboard. The trouble is we have no mini people to live in the house so we will have to look for some.

In which her promise is kept

My person kept her promise and made me a lovely green dress. The green bow is special because the ribbon was a surprise gift from another group of Hittys that live far away from here. By sewing it on the dress we will always know where it is and remember where it came from.

We took one photo inside and then went out to a little patch of grass for a "Little Hitty on the Prairie" shot. It has been warm and dry here and we've had some periods of strong winds that have blown dirt from the farm next door into our yard.

But it's nice to see that spring is coming! There are little green shoots coming up in the field.

Yesterday we heard a meadowlark singing for the first time this year! This isn't our photo, but gives you an idea what we are talking about!

In which HittyFlo talks with her person

HittyFlo (HF): So, you have a sewing machine, right?

Her person (P): Yes...

HF: And you've been sewing for many, many years.

P: Well...

HF: You've sewn for businesses, people, children and dolls.

P: ???

HF: Even for Barbie!

P: *winces*

HF: SO WHY HAVEN'T YOU EVER MADE ME A DRESS?

P: I'm sorry. You have several nice dresses and I just thought someday I would get around to making more, but things happen and I get side-tracked and...

HF: That's enough. I understand. I watch you people day and night so I know all about it. But, PLEASE, will you make me a new dress? Pretty please?

P: OK. I promise. I will make you a new dress tonight.

HF: A green one? For St Patrick's Day? I have always wanted a green dress.

P: OK. A green one.

Photos tomorrow! (or someone will be in big trouble!)

The Quilt Fairy came! from Hitty Flo

Yes, my friends, there IS a Quilt Fairy. She flew across the entire country and delivered a package of tiny squares of fabric. Naturally Hitty Isabella grabbed her needle and thread and began a marathon of sewing which lasted late into the night. She made a lovely charm quilt to use as a lap quilt or to wrap up in on cold nights. So, thank you to the quilt fairy for inspiring us!

I am also happy to be back on what really is my own blog. The children around here are being encouraged to create their own so that we Hittys can have a peaceful and quiet place to write!

more clues from Emily

Here I am with my sisters and we are all in our new pajamas or nightgowns. Guess that should be enough information for you to figure out what we are doing, right? Yep! We are going to have a sleepover. Samantha has traveled through time to join us, so there will be four girls having a crazy time, haha. I'll be sure and take some photos and let you know how it goes. I don't think we will get much sleep! ;)

Love,
Emily
